It's the last week of August - the tenderest time of the year, at once filled with anticipation (because September 1 - the first day of school - is coming up, which evokes a touch of excitement even in people who finished school decades ago) and bittersweet wistfulness because yet another summer is coming to an end... But wait a minute! Who, where, why and when ever said that summer must end at the end of August?
First: the calendar clearly states that the last day of summer this year falls on 21 September - so that's an extra three weeks of summer just like that! Secondly, summer lasts as long as you can enjoy yourself outside without the cold gnawing at your toes or chattering your teeth. And since there are unfortunately not so many months in Estonia that are really suitable for pleasant outdoor activities, you should make the most of those precious moments that are - no matter what the calendar says about summer or autumn (or any other season - remember last year's "winter"?).
The first essential ingredient - besides good weather - for having fun outdoors is (you guessed it): good company. Whether that's family, friends, neighbours or fine colleagues. The second thing you need is a nice location: garden, terrace, balcony, or why not a barbecue spot or a picturesque place by the sea? And thirdly (we were just talking about balmy summer nights, remember?): a little warmth and light certainly won't hurt. Watching shooting stars together, clouds lighting up in the night sky, or the spectacle of the northern lights with your loved one is wonderfully romantic. But let's face it: not everyone is destined to enjoy such idyllic scenes on a balmy summer evening - groping around in the pitch dark for your child's lost toy that right now to be recovered is just a little less poetic anyway (and a lot less romantic). In short: there must be light, and there will be light!
But what kind of light? Look, even with children and other "distractors", everyone can enjoy a small, idyllic moment now and then. And then you might not be waiting for one of those bright, unsociable, blue fluorescent lights like in hospitals or fitting rooms (you know, those...). What if we lit candles? Candles are cosy, but they drip, melt, need a special holder, and if you have, say, a party tent with a white roof, the soot can leave ugly circles (incidentally, the same thing happens if you try to take a romantic bath by candlelight - but that's another story). A lot of hassle, then. Still, the fact remains: a candle flame is SO beautiful, especially on a sultry summer evening. There has to be a better solution, right?
There certainly is! And we promise you: it's a solution that requires a lot less hassle. Have you ever heard of powdered candles? No? Well, we'll explain: a powder candle is a genius invention that works like this - and we'll keep it simple -: open the jar, pour the powder into a suitable (heat-resistant) container, insert a wick, light it, and voila! - hours of cosy, soft light (and if you want: with a lovely scent to go with it).
As we at TheCandledust like to say: these are no ordinary candles, these are cool candles! And they really are.
Firstly, powdered candles are super light and therefore easy to carry - whatever is left over after extinguishing them, you just pour back into the container for next time. Whether you go on a picnic, to the beach or for a walk, powdered candles hardly make your rucksack or basket heavier (you won't even notice), but do provide instant atmosphere wherever you are.
Secondly, one pack lasts an incredibly long time - a 680g bag of powder candle will give you 140 hours of light. That means, in theory, you could run the same candle non-stop for an entire working week (though we might not recommend that anyway).
Thirdly, we have gone to great lengths to develop the perfect, natural scent for our powder candles. Besides unscented powder candles, we currently offer two unique scents:
-
Breeze - morning fresh and spicy
-
Rhubarb Sparkle - sunny and fruity, with a hint of spring
Fourthly, let your creativity run wild with our powdered candles. Because they have no fixed shape or colour like traditional candles, you make your own candle, in the holder you choose. As long as it is heat-resistant and at least 8 cm wide. Use large glass bowls and decorate them with flowers or other fun details - ideal for festive occasions. It is so simple that even children can get to grips with it (and in our experience: they are only too happy to do it).
Fifthly, all our powder candles and packaging are eco-friendly. Everything is recyclable. So with every Candledust candle, you do your bit for a future where future generations can also enjoy balmy summer nights.
Sixthly, our powder candles create atmosphere! The whole concept - natural fragrance, vegetable wax, and the ability to create a candle that perfectly suits you and your loved ones - really works. Have you never tried a powder candle before or are you only now hearing about it for the first time? Then grab your chance! We are convinced: you won't regret it.
By the way: TheCandledust's powdered candles come in stylish packaging, making them perfect as gifts too. The balmy summer nights will once again give way to long, dark winter nights - but those are just the moments when a beautiful candle is indispensable.
