A lit candle is a beautiful interior element that in our Nordic climate (read: three-quarters of a year of darkness and poor skiing conditions) makes any home extra cosy with little effort.
But besides creating a cosy atmosphere, don't forget safety, especially when dealing with open flames. Probably all parents and pet owners worry when nearby beautiful burning candles suddenly start a pillow fight or a chase game. If you have ever had to clean up candle wax that fell on a new tablecloth or long-haired carpet during such activities, you know how troublesome it can be. And be glad if it stops there and no small fire starts.
TheCandledust has good news: the powder candle is safer than any other candle! And clean up is much easier too! Because the contents of the powder candle - as the name suggests - are powder or fine-grained mass, the risk of the flame setting fire to something highly flammable nearby is minimal if the candle falls over. If the candle tips over, the contents fall out and usually the flame goes out immediately too. Watch the video here.
Cleaning up after a fallen candle is much easier than with a traditional wax candle. You can easily scoop most of the spilled material back into the holder and the rest can be vacuumed - this is completely safe for the hoover. Thus, it is not very difficult to remove frozen wax from the carpet, and because the contents of the powder candle are white and dry, no stains remain.
Of course, when burning candles, you should always observe general fire safety rules - unfortunately, statistics still show that a large proportion of house fires are caused by careless use of open flames. This obviously applies to powdered candles too. Here are some tips for safe candlelight:
-
Always follow the manufacturer's or seller's instructions. Tips for burning powder candles can also be found on TheCandledust website, both in the blog and with the products in the shop.
-
The candle holder should be heat and flame resistant; here the options are endless. Always use an appropriately sized holder that leaves enough space around the wick or wicks.
-
Never leave a burning candle unattended, especially with small children or pets!
-
Make sure there are no flammable objects or materials in the immediate vicinity of the candle.
-
Do not put a candle near an open window - candles on the windowsill look pretty, but the airflow can push the flame towards flammable materials.
We wish you many happy moments with TheCandledust candles!
